24 hour Blood Pressure Monitor

24-hour blood pressure monitorHypertension, or high blood pressure, is the leading cause of death world-wide. It causes premature death due to its detrimental effects on the heart (heart attacks), brain ( strokes and dementia),  kidneys (failure / dialysis). These effects can be prevented once high blood pressure is recognised. High blood pressure may more often than not cause no symptoms for the individual. This is why it is so important to check your blood pressure regularly as you age. Many people have day-time high blood pressure but some also have night-time high blood pressure.

The 24-hour blood pressure monitor is the only gold standard way to diagnose high blood pressure.

How it works?

You can make an appointment with our nurses to have it fitted. It stays in place for 24hours. It takes blood pressure readings every 30 minutes during the day and hourly during the night. You re-attend the practice for removal of the monitor the following morning. The data is collected and the report is forwarded to one of our doctors. Our nurses will contact you with the results and a treatment plan.

Application of monitors are strictly in line with strict covid-safe procedures.

Cost

The monitor costs 100 euro.

The monitor is free for medical card and doctor visit card patients.
